With another grueling North American International Auto Show behind us, Justin and Joel round up Adam Barrera, from Highmileage.org, and Zane Merva, from autoinsane.com, to discuss their winners and losers. The ‘Garage’ is brimming with all sorts of Japanese metal this time around. Joel even has a funny story about his MazdaSpeed3 vs. a Bobcat.
With only a few days to go before the North American International Autoshow, Justin and Joel invited Nick Saporito from GMInsidenews.com and FordInsidenews.com to come on the show and catch up on the latest news and preview the Detroit Show. The ‘Garage’ is brimming with all kinds of great vehicles as well as some Feder-Phrenology and great insider info from Nick.
In ‘This Week in Cars,’ we critique a critical article on car grilles, talk about two Camaros which could be made obsolete by the upcoming Z28, make fun of Justin’s monologue on the 1989 San Francisco earthquake, and talk about the iPad.
In ‘Talking Points,’ Justin issues a challenge to Joel, and we find out about Joel and Nick sharing a backpack and their mob mentality at NAIAS.
Nick & Joel discuss what’s going on in Detroit. What they are looking forward to seeing and how the show is different this year than last year for media
In this edition of the “birdcast”, the title really tells you all you need to know about what we discussed. We enjoyed having our special guest: Craig Cole from the Roundabout Show join Joel and Justin. For all you loyal listeners out there we got in a little weather conversation, discussed some cool new radar detectors and Justin does his best Johnny Olsen impression when describing the Pontiac Aztek. Enjoy!

First of all, we’d like to say thank you to all of our loyal listeners out there. The last month has been pretty crazy for both Joel and I. Joel has been driving around all over the United States and I have been plugging away at work and at school. In this episode, we tried to get everybody caught up on the most important news of the past month. Also, enjoy the laughs about Chevrolet’s new ad campaign and the “White Diamond.”
AutoBirdBlog has a long tradition of cooperating with the excellent RoundAbout Show podcast. For Episode 54, I joined Michelle Naranjo, Craig Cole, Jefferson Ross, Eric Trytko and Emmy-award-winning producer Ben Sanders in their weekly quest for a cohesive, zen-like theme.
Jefferson reported from his Volt test drive, while I even had two cars to talk about – reviews will be on AutoBird Blog shortly.
RoundAbout records LIVE on Fridays at 6:30PM ET/3:30PM PT. Visit RoundAboutShow.com and click Watch Live to watch our webcast and look in on all the antics.
Host Justin Loyear and Co-Host Joel Feder of Accelerate Minneapolis were joined by Nick Salvatore of SpeedSportLife for a spirited discussion about roadsters. We also discuss Nick’s website, all the cars driven by the show for the last couple of weeks plus the likely fate of Hyundai and Nissan. Oh, and we also try to decide what kind of Ferrari Justin saw this week. If anybody has any idea what Ferrari Justin saw, please comment.

Talking Points: Roadsters Discussion
Lets talk about ownership “stigma” or stereotypes that go with the cars below. What are the positives and negatives to these cars reliability, cost of ownership
Continuing the trend of AutoBird writers appearing on the RoundAbout Show, I happened to be on this week’s episode and was close enough to the RoAB studios to be able to do the show there, instead of on Skype. The theme is mixed messages and judging from the topics which included why the low tire pressure monitor looks like a belly button, the million dollar speeding ticket, Michelle calling me cute, offering $70,000 for a Pontiac G8 GXP, and more, worked perfectly.
Enjoy the comforting sounds of Michelle Naranjo, Eric Trytko, Jefferson Ross, Zach Bowman, Ben Sanders, Craig Cole, and yours truly, as we try to decipher the messages and have fun while doing it…. Meow….
Midnight in Germany conveniently coincides with 6pm in Michigan – and because my schedule had a microscopic blank space last Friday night, I could finally join the RoundAbout crew for their (theoretically) weekly podcast.
If you are interested in topics like endangered car species in Germany, weird buses-on-stilts in China, tips for buying, $1,000 cars, tips for buying €100,000 cars previously owned by billionaires and tips what not to do with your low-rider, this show is for you.
Michelle Naranjo, Eric Trytko, Jeffrey Ross, Ben Sanders and Craig Cole are not only joined by that weird German dude, but also by Mr. Stewart himself. (Who, unlike me, physically made it to the studio)
Now that you know all that, it should come as no surprise that this episode is called the “Not Going To End Well” Episode.
