inkFord Fiesta commerical

Ford released its first TV advertising campaign for the 2011 Fiesta on Monday.

The advertisements include the slogan “It’s a pretty big deal.” The ads touch upon the push button start feature, Ford Sync and 40 mpg on highway fuel economy.

Both ads use their fair share of acrobatics, sky divers, unicyclists and parkour urban jumpers.

Ford plans a multipronged approach to releasing these ads, the Fiesta ads first debuted on this week’s episode of “American Idol,” Ford’s own personal propaganda platform.  The ads are supposed to appeal to Millennials: drivers born between 1979 and 1995.

Well Ford: everyone who writes for this blog are Millennials. We thought the ads were fairly contrived, considering that Toyota did the exact same campaign for many of its models (watch below). The banners and demonstrations the performers were trying to form were often difficult to read and the music was too dull to keep our attention. The 30 second versions of these two pieces turned out a lot better though; otherwise, the start of Ford’s Fiesta campaign is a real snoozer.

Just remember Ford the key attention grabbers for young people going forward include original creative, memorable music, and a little straightforward flash.

I think these commercials are reaching levels that I thought only the Volt Dance could
  • I like the Euro launch ad better... but judge for yourself!
