Chevy’s New Tagline Wont Last Long

Chevy’s new tagline “Excellence for All” is only weeks old, but communications from Chevy say the tagline will have a very short shelf life.

“It’s not something you’re going to see for much longer,” said Klaus-Peter Martin, spokesman for Chevrolet.

The slogan used for print ads, was part of a new ad campaign done by Publicis Worldwide, a branch of France’s Publicis Groupe. The Publicis Groupe won contracts for Chevrolet’s advertising business in the US. The ad campaign also included a TV commercial released this week talking about Chevrolet’s “Red-X” engineers and commitment to quality.

In an unsurprising move by industry analysts, this past week GM’s new Marketing Chief Joel Ewanick, moved the Chevrolet contracts from Publicis Worldwide to San Francisco firm Goodby, Silverstein & Partners.

This move to Goodby, Silverstein & Partners is the third move for Chevrolet since cutting most ties to Campbell-Ewald, a relationship which lasted for ninety-one years. Chevrolet still uses the tagline “Most Dependable, Longest Lasting” for pickups and SUVs done by Campbell-Ewald and will continue to do some business with them as well.

With all these changes going on General Motors, when will the musical chairs end?
